Previously attached to the Netflix movie, aurora, Kathryn Bigelow Now it has been confirmed that he will be directing a different film. In accordance with From Puck reporting, the acclaimed director will now helm a new film for the streaming platform. The untitled film will reportedly be a thriller that follows the White House and its response to a missile threat on American soil. While it hasn't been formally announced, reports indicate that the film will be announced at Netflix Upfronts.

This adds more intrigue to the abandoned film, aurora. The film was an adaptation of the David Koepp book of the same name. The story appeals to real-life anxiety, revolving around characters in the midst of a catastrophe. After a solar storm knocks out power across the country, Aubrey Wheeler must reunite with her brother, Thom, in the midst of a crisis. Bigelow was initially attached to direct the film, but left the project due to unpublicized circumstances. While this action may have put a strain on Bigelow's relationship with Netflix, it appears no bridges were burned. Production is starting on screenwriter Noah Oppenheim's high-risk film.
