At the end of the previous season of pretty little liarsfans had the impression of Imogen (Bailey Madison) the baby would pass into the hands of the controversial couple, Ezra (Ian Harding) and Aria (Lucy Hale) from the original series. But as co-showrunner Lindsay Calhoon Bring he said Weekly entertainment, this is not the case when Season 2 opens. Estelle has stayed at Millwood with a different partner. Imogen explains this in the episode, stating that she “got a weird vibe from that Ezra.” This claim is not entirely off base. Ezra dated his future wife when she was in high school, and he was her teacher. Some things from pretty little liars it just doesn't age well. However, Bring noted that there was more to the story than finding Ezra creepy.

“Dr. Sullivan says it best in episode 1. Imogen, of course, says, 'I got a weird vibe from that Ezra guy.'” That may or may not be true, but Dr. Sullivan gets to the heart of it and says, “And also, your baby's parents live in Millwood and you want to keep your baby close, you want to keep an eye on him. You are obsessively pursuing this child. It felt really right that we could play into the story, have the baby around, have Imogen stop for unwanted people and let her play out her anxieties in that way.”

While Imogen has given her baby up for adoption original sin, still follows the girl's movements. A clear violation of any adoption agreement.

'Pretty Little Liars: Summer School' benefits from this change

This creative decision was made for the best. While revisiting Aria and Ezra may appeal to nostalgic shippers everywhere, it's a different time for the series. Including old characters would not add to the new story in any favorable way. It would just be a cameo for a cameo's sake. The writers were more concerned with driving Imogen's emotional journey. Instead of writing off her baby like the previous trauma never happened, she continues Summer School. Imogen still collects the consequences of what happened to her out of fear for the life of a child who effectively no longer belongs to her.

“I thought it was such a great dramatization of Imogen's fear that something terrible would happen to the baby,” co-showrunner. Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa pointed out. Unfortunately for this baby, this is probably the worst decision for her. By keeping the baby close to her, Imogen may be inadvertently putting the child at risk. The new villain who enters the scene has mysterious motives, and this reality makes Imogen and her family an easy target.
