10 Strongest Devil Fruits in ‘One Piece,’ Ranked

Movies

Now that One Piece has concluded its longest arc yet, it’s time to move on to the Egghead Arc where the pirates go on an adventure on the island of an infamous brilliant scientist. In Straw Hat Pirates’ journey to finding the ultimate treasure, the Devil Fruits have played a great role in shaping the show’s narrative. Even though the World Government declares Luffy’s Gomu Gomu no Mi devil fruit as the most troublesome, there exist other fruits with notable extraordinary powers.

Over the course of 1074 episodes, One Piece has showcased an abundance of Devil Fruits – each having unique powers and abilities. There are mainly three types of Devil Fruits: Logia, Paramecia, and Zoan. The Logia type allows the utilizer to transform its body into the nature of a respected element. For instance, Smoker, can transform into Smoke. Meanwhile, the Paramecia type manifests strange capabilities, which can be seen in Kuma’s repulsive abilities. Lastly, Zoan-type fruits allow the users to completely transform into an animal species, which is apparent with Kaido’s capability to transform into a dragon. In One Piece, there are a handful of Devil Fruits that have risen to the top due to the powers they grant a user.

10 Doku Doku No Mi

Current user: Magellan

The Doku Doku no Mi is a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit, enabling the user to have control over the various types of poisons. Additionally, the user of Doku Doku no Mi is immune to a wide array of toxins. Magellan, the Warden of Impel Down, is shown to wield the powers of the Devil Fruit. The versatility of the Devil Fruit allows Magellan to control poison in various forms, allowing him to create poison bombs, poison arrows, and even a poison dragon that behaves according to him.

There are many poisons that the Doku Doku no Mi can produce, but the most dangerous one is called Kinjite. Magellan notes that it’s powerful enough to destroy Impel Down since it can infect everything in its path, including stone. With the power of the Devil Fruit, Magellan managed to defeat two of the strongest pirates: Luffy and Blackbeard. But despite having such a formidable ability, Magellan has to be cautious when using it as he can also poison his allies.

9 Mera Mera No Mi

Current user: Sabo

By ingesting the Mera Mera no Mi, a Fire Logia-type Devil Fruit, both the late Ace and now Sabo have gained extensive control over fire. The Devil Fruit enabled them to exploit flames at their own will and be resistant to heat-based attacks, creating diverse combat strategies. And just like other Logia Devil Fruit users, those who wield the Mera Mera no Mi can transform into fire and become intangible, allowing them to pass attacks through their bodies without harming them.

However, the might of the Mera Mera no Mi fruit seems to be overshadowed by certain other Logia-type Devil Fruits like Hie Hie no Mi. In addition, Akainu’s Magu Magu no Mi fruit is the best counter for the abilities of Mera Mera no Mi due to magma being hotter than flames. This was a primary reason why Admiral Akainu was able to put a hole through Ace’s chest.

8 Zushi Zushi No Mi

Current user: Issho

Despite the complexity of its storyline and power system, One Piece has been hailed as one of the best anime shows for beginners. One formidable Devil Fruit in the show is the Zushi Zushi no Mi, which has been consumed by Admiral Fujitora. The Devil Fruit allows him to manipulate gravitational pull. This means that Fujitora can control everything within its reach, ranging from the moving land structures to the battleships in the ocean.

What’s more, Fujitora can use his powers to create a defensive barrier around him that effectively repels any attacks. By utilizing the force of Zushi Zushi no Mi, Fujitora can even summon meteors, showing how incredible the range of his powers is. Nonetheless, this manipulation can be disrupted by physically attacking the Admiral (as done by Zoro). Moreover, the Zushi Zushi no Mi seems to be ineffective on individuals with strong physiques, who can maintain their position even in adverse conditions.

7 Goro Goro No Mi

Current user: Enel

The Goro Goro no Mi is a logia-type fruit owned by Enel. The Devil Fruit grants Enel the ability to influence the power of electricity, essentially allowing him to become lighting personified. Nico Robin has remarked the Goro Goro no Mi fruit is the most fearsome devil fruit because its user can become indestructible by transforming into electricity, which makes them immune to almost all attacks. If for some reason Enel gets near thunderclouds, they can greatly increase the range and damage of their powers, so much so as showering a whole island with lightning bolts.

In the event that Enel suffers from cardiac arrest, he can use the powers of the Devil Fruit to restart his own heart, showing how the fruit can be used for self-healing. Furthermore, Enel was even able to move at lightning speed, making it next to impossible to catch up. Unfortunately, Goro Goro no Mi’s unique weakness is rubber, making Luffy resistant to all of Enel’s attacks.

6 Nikyu Nikyu No Mi

Current user: Bartholomew Kuma

By employing the Nikyu Nikyu no Mi Devil Fruit, Bartholomew Kuma can repulse everything that comes in contact with his paws. It even has the unique potential of exploiting intangible concepts like memories, pain, and fatigue. This means that Kuma can take intangible targets to store and manipulate in paw-shaped energy bubbles. Offensively, the Nikyu Nikyu no Mi allows Kuma to repel the air in order to create piercing paw-shaped shockwaves.

Despite being possessed with such formidable powers, it solely functions when Kuma uses paws on his hands. In case the hands of Devil Fruit users are occupied, the abilities can be nullified. And just like almost all Devil Fruits, the Nikyu Nikyu no Mi is limited by weaknesses like the Sea Prism Stone and the ocean. In addition, intangible things stored in the bubbles return to where it was taken from. That said, it’s still one of the more versatile and potent Devil Fruits in One Piece.

5 Pika Pika No Mi

Current user: Borsalino

Admiral Kizaru in One Piece

This Logia-type Devil Fruit empowers Admiral Kizaru to control and manipulate light at will, making him one of the strongest Marines. The Pika Pika no Mi fruit allows Kizaru to shoot laser beams, block attacks, and even evade attacks by letting them pass through his body. It can also be used strategically in battle, as Kizaru was able to reflect themselves between surfaces and more effectively disable the enemy. He can even craft weapons made from light.

Despite retaining mystifying power, the Pika Pika no Mi fruit can be underwhelmed by the use of strong Haki as Dark King Silvers Rayleigh used it to temporarily disrupt Kizaru’s tangibility. However, facing Kizaru while he’s using the Devil Fruit proves to be a challenge for any pirate. This is because he has incredible control over its powers, going so far as creating clones made of light particles that could fight on his behalf.

4 Hie Hie No Mi

Current user: Kuzan

There are a lot of characters that fans are looking forward to seeing in the second season of One Piece’s live-action adaptation. One such character is the former Admiral Aikoji, also known as Kuzan. Using the Hie Hie no Mi, Kuzan has great control and reign over ice, as he’s seen creating ice weapons, constructing ice barricades, and even freezing enormous water waves. During Marineford, Kuzan saved the Marines by freezing the two great Tsunamis summoned by Whitebeard.

Kuzan can also freeze his enemies once he gets in contact with them. The damage is so severe that he can induce frostbite and permanent tissue damage on his opponents. The greatest feat achieved by Kuzan using the Devil Fruit was during the 10-day-long fight with Aikainu at Punk Hazard. This conflict entirely transformed the geographical landscape, rendering the place an uninhabitable badland. It’s interesting to know that the Hie Hie no Mi is immune to the standard Devil Fruit weakness of the ocean as it automatically freezes any liquid it touches.

3 Tori Tori No Mi, Model: Phoenix

Current user: Marco

The Tori Tori no Mi, Model: Pheonix, is a Zoan-type devil fruit, consumed by Whitebeard’s first wing commander, Marco. Same as the other Zoan devil fruits, the Devil Fruit has bestowed Marco with incredible physical strength, allowing him to transform into a majestic Phoenix. Marco can also create powerful blasts using the flames, which greatly harms enemies without burning them.

Marco’s most notable ability while using the Devil Fruit is “Blue Flames of Resurrection” or “Flames of Regeneration.” These unique light-blue flames have potent healing properties, allowing Marco to quickly recover from any injuries, no matter how fatal they are. Even though the Tori Tori no Mi has excellent regenerative ability, it is not exempt from limitations. Continuous battles or the use of strong Haki can push Tori Tori no Mi users to their limit. Remarkably, Monkey D. Garp was able to disrupt Marco by using the Haki. However, enemies are still wary of Marco, as he’s an incredibly skilled Haki user and even briefly stood his ground against the three Marine admirals.

2 Gomu Gomu No Mi

Current user: Monkey D. Luffy

“Gomu Gomu no” are words that every One Piece fan is familiar with. The Gomu Gomu no Mi is the Paramecia-type and one of the mysterious fruit within the entire series. Even after 1074 episodes, fans continue to speculate on the real powers of Straw Hat Luffy’s Devil Fruit. Gomu Gomu no Mi granted One Piece’s main protagonist, Monkey D. Luffy, rubber-like abilities. He can stretch his hands, inflate his muscles, pump his body, and even deliver numerous Gatling punches at a time.

The recent episodes have showcased Gear 5th, a form of Luffy where he manages to defeat one of the mightiest Yonko: Kaido. Clearly, the powers of this fruit seem to be widening and will soon rise even to fight against Shanks. With the incredible stretchy and versatile powers bestowed on him by the Devil Fruit Gomu Gomu no Mi, Luffy might even become the strongest character in the One Piece universe.

1 Yami Yami No Mi

Current user: Marshall D. Teach

The Yami Yami no Mi exists among the few Devil Fruits that have the ability to negate the powers of other Devil Fruit users within its range. Darkness manipulation is the sole ability that affords Marshal D. Teach, also known as Blackbeard, a decisive upper edge over any Devil Fruit user. The same happened in a confrontation between Blackbeard with Ace, where Ace’s Mera Mera no Mi was subjugated by darkness.

The Devil Fruit can also create darkness that is essentially a black hole, eating everything within its area and crushing it with incredible force. Additionally, the Yami Yami no Mi can even extract the Devil Fruit from an adversary. Blackbeard relied on this power to drag out Whitebeard’s Gura Gura no Mi and Trafalgar Law’s Ope Ope no Mi fruit. Because of its innate powers, Marshall D. Teach is the natural predator of other Devil Fruit users, making him a feared character in One Piece.
