The council stated that chicken and kebab meat were being stored at unsafe temperatures, and the fridges were not functioning properly. In addition, the inspection highlighted grimy food preparation surfaces and an overall lack of cleanliness and hygiene.
As a result of the inspection findings, Yasin Nabi, the owner of Pisces Fish and Chips, faced legal repercussions. He pleaded guilty to breaching the Food Safety and Hygiene (England) Regulations 2013. At the town’s magistrates court, Nabi was fined £2,972 and banned from operating a food business. These measures were taken to ensure the safety and well-being of the public, as food safety standards are in place for a reason.
