It’s Usher’s time to shine on the NFL stage. The 44-year-old singer and songwriter will headline the 2024 Super Bowl Halftime Show, presented by Apple

Music, during the big game on February 11, 2024.

The Atlanta-raised R&B singer will perform at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, marking the first time the Super Bowl will take place in that city. Usher follows Rihanna, who performed at the 2023 Super Bowl and became the most-watched halftime performer in history with 121.017 million viewers, according to Billboard.

Other Super Bowl acts in recent years include Eminem, Dr. Dre. Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar and Mary J. Blige (2022), The Weeknd (2021) and Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, J Balvin, Emme Muniz (2020).

“It’s an honor of a lifetime to finally check a Super Bowl performance off my bucket list. I can’t wait to bring the world a show unlike anything else they’ve seen from me before,” Usher said in a statement, according to Billboard. “Thank you to the fans and everyone who made this opportunity happen. I’ll see you real soon.”

Usher also celebrated the news via his social media accounts on Sunday, September 24. “LAS VEGAS. APPLE MUSIC HALFTIME SHOW. #SBLVIII,” he penned on X alongside a promotion for the coveted halftime program.

“Usher is an icon whose music has left an indelible mark on the cultural landscape throughout his career, we couldn’t be more excited to have him headline this year’s Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show,” said Seth Dudowsky, NFL Head of Music, in a statement obtained by Variety. “We look forward to working with Usher, Roc Nation and Apple Music to bring fans another Halftime Show for the history books.”

Rapper Jay-Z, the founder of Roc Nation, added: “Usher is the ultimate artist and showman. Ever since his debut at the age of 15, he’s been charting his own unique course. Beyond his flawless singing and exceptional choreography, Usher bares his soul,” he said. “His remarkable journey has propelled him to one of the grandest stages in the world. I can’t wait to see the magic.”

Oliver Schusser, Apple’s Vice President of Apple Music, Apple TV+, Sports, and Beats, said that he’s looking forward to another incredible halftime show. “We are so proud of what we were able to accomplish together with the NFL and Roc Nation last year and now with the insanely talented Usher set to take the stage we’re looking forward to another incredible Halftime Show from one of the world’s all-time greatest performers.”

The musician’s ninth studio album, Coming Home, will also be arriving on Super Bowl Sunday. This is Usher’s first new album since his 2016 LP Hard II Love. The new album will include his recent 2023 single, “Good Good,” feat. Summer Walker and 21 Savage.

The upcoming performance will be the second year that the halftime show will be presented by Apple Music, following a decade of sponsorship by Pepsi. DPS and executive producers Roc Nation and Jesse Collins will produce the show, while Hamish Hamilton will direct.
