The man accused of abducting a 10-year-old boy from a skate park in Woodridge, south of Brisbane, has been granted bail in the Supreme Court in Brisbane.

Last month, 27-year-old Tauvela Soe, along with two others, allegedly forced the boy into the backseat of an SUV after becoming enraged when a boy threw a rock at him. windshield

CCTV footage showed the moment the boy's parents confronted the group, including Soe. Fifteen minutes later, the police arrested them in a nearby street and charged all three of them with kidnapping and assault.

Granting bail on Monday, Judge Peter Davis imposed strict conditions, meaning the accused could not contact any witnesses or alleged victims.

Prosecutors told the court that Soe was at a significant risk of reoffending, alleging that while being led by police, he addressed a boy in the same group as the 10-year-old, allegedly saying: “I will come back for you. “

Soe walked out of the Arthur Gorrie Correctional Center on Monday.

Speaking outside court, his lawyer Troy Smith said he was pleased with the outcome.

“He really wanted to get back to his family,” Smith said.

“I strongly believe this should have been the result the first time around.”
