Recently announced as an international ambassador for the Smart Energy Council, the country's peak renewable energy industry group, Palaszczuk was adamant that solar, wind, batteries, hydrogen and hydrogen are still being the future

“Nuclear is not the answer. The proposed nuclear policy [by federal Coalition leader Peter Dutton] no cost, no details. It will be more expensive,” he said.

“And we have a plan, the Australian government has a plan and we have to stick to that plan.”

About the upcoming state elections

Palaszczuk, however, would not be drawn into the state politics of the matter when asked if LNP leader David Crisafulli should make his position on nuclear clearer amid pressure even of his own party.

“I'm not going to comment on state politics, I'll leave that to Steven Miles and David Crisafulli to fight that battle,” he said, before being asked about Labour's chances after he leaves.

“Look, anything can happen in an election campaign.”

About his legacy

Palaszczuk was asked if it hurt to see Labor recast Miles and the state government as “new” and Treasurer Cameron Dick said the election should not be a “referendum on the last nine years” .

“Not really because, you know, I understand that there's an election coming up and they're saying certain things, but I'm focused on my new role. And they have to focus on the people of this state, which I was absolutely dedicated to for almost nine years,” he said.

“I will stand by my legacy and others will judge them by theirs.”
