Antoni Porowski Dishes Up News on ‘Queer Eye Season 9’ [Interview]

The rebirth of strange eye 2018 has had a profound impact on everyone involved in the series. The reboot takes the original premise of its predecessor and opens it up to anyone the new Fab Five can help make better. The series is a healthy celebration of the power of human connection, as well as a way to elevate LGBTQIA voices. When the reboot premiered, it became a cultural phenomenon, and eight seasons later, it's still going strong.

The strength of the series has also opened the doors to all kinds of new opportunities for the Fab Five, including Anthony Porowskithe resident food expert strange eye. Antoni appeared on the restaurant scene working Ted Allenthe current host of chopped, who was his counterpart in the original series Weird eye for straight guy. He worked as Ted's assistant and personal chef. Now, Antoni has his own projects to raise in addition to maintaining his role in the strange eye distribution He currently has a partnership with Lowe's to inspire people to grow their own fresh food in their own backyards. He has some too a series in the works with National Geographic he called No Taste Like Home, where he travels the world “to discover the rich heritage of global celebrities through the food traditions, techniques and culinary experiences of their ancestors.” Collider spoke with Antoni about his upcoming projects, as well as tips and tricks for those with a green thumb.

'Queer Eye' returns with a new member of the Fab Five

Antoni was in Las Vegas filming season 8 of strange eye when he spoke to Collider. When asked about how things are going, he shared, “It's going well. It's very dry. I'm using a lot of sticks. I'm hydrated. I'm using my electrolytes. It's a very interesting season – we have The Vegas Strip, which is like bright, shining lights, and we spend a lot of time there.” There is also a new addition to the Fab Five. Jeremiah Brent joins the cast following the departure of Bobby Berk as the new interior design expert.When asked how things are going with Jeremiah, Antoni shared: “He's a seasoned professional. He's been on TV longer than all of them put together. Like I literally used to do a show with Rachel Zoe, and it's love. He shows up, he's like the first person on set and the last to leave, just very passionate about what he does.” Jeremiah has appeared many times HGTV next to her husband, Nate Berkusand have co-hosted several Home Improvement Network shows together.

He also commented on how the popularity of the series has been a blessing but also a bit of a hindrance. Antoni said: “The funny thing is that, as each season continues, because we are now in the ninth season of the show; ten if you count Tokyo, and producers and casting directors are still trying to find people. And it's getting harder and harder [find people] who have never actually heard of the show.” It looks like things are going well for the newest member of the Fab Five and Antoni also has his own fun projects to look forward to.

Antoni gives advice on growing vegetables

Spring is here and many people are frustrated with grocery store prices, to the point where they want to try growing their own vegetables and herbs. Antoni has partnered with Lowe's Home and Garden to make these gardening dreams come true. When asked about advice for beginners, Antoni said: “I think starting small, take a look at what your dietary needs are and your eating habits as you are and work from here. If you start getting too much stuff and it gets too overwhelming, you're less likely to actually make it something that's a long-term practice or something that you're really passionate about, because you could get overwhelmed.” He added, “Herbs are very easy Mint grows like a weed. Chives too. Herbs are incorporated into literally every meal of the day.

From there you can move on to things like greens, and you can get some nice different kinds of arugula or some arugula or some wonderful mustard greens, and from there you can move on to things like cucumbers or tomatoes, which need a shocking amount of water, but you can make cherry tomatoes because they're so much easier, and they grow so much faster and they're delicious, and they can be kept in the fridge.” generally it shouldn't be stored in cold places “Never put a tomato in the fridge, it changes the texture, it hardens, it's not great, but cherry tomatoes work.

In addition to his partnership with Lowe's, Antoni is branching out with his own series on Nat Geo: No Taste Like Home. When asked about updates on the new series, he shared, “I don't have any updates. I know it's going to be announced soon because the initial season is starting. So I'll probably find out close to when everyone else finds out, but I'm very excited about the show.” He also shared more about the series, saying, “It has elements like the heart of strange eyebut in a very, very global way, literally, I think we got to travel to four or five continents in a matter of a few months, and exploring family history through the lens of food is something that's always been very important to me only on my own with my own Polish heritage.” The series uses food as a vehicle to delve into the stories behind food, bringing people's stories to the fore. Antoni said: “For power [experience] this with many of these extremely public figures leading very private lives; that they are willing to open up about their insecurities; what they know and what they don't know about their family history has been really beautiful and fascinating. And I hope I can do it forever.”
