Avril Lavigne can't make it more obvious.
The “Sk8er Boi” singer set the record straight about the conspiracy theory that it actually is no Avril Lavigne, but a body double named Melissa Vandella. The false rumor, which claimed that Avril had died after the release of her debut album in 2003 Let go, caused record executives to hire a doppelgänger to take his place; they have been circulating on the Internet since the early years.
Well, what is the truth? “Obviously, it's me,” Avril said with a laugh during the May 15 episode of Call her father. “He's so dumb.”
However, the 39-year-old sees the theories as a compliment about her looks.
“It's fun for me,” Avril explained. “On the one hand, everyone says, 'You look exactly the same.' You haven't aged a day.'' But then other people say, 'There's a conspiracy theory that's not me.'
Acknowledging that it “could be worse,” the pop-punk rocker joked that she “got a good one” when it comes to alleged scandals.
