Richard Gadd is curbing speculation about his Baby Reindeer characters.

The comedian, who based the Netflix show on his personal experiences with sexual harassment and assault, made a public plea for fans to stop trying to identify his abusers.

“Hey everyone,” Gadd wrote on his Instagram story on April 22, according to a screenshot taken by Today. “The people I love, have worked with, and admire (including Sean Foley) are being unfairly caught up in speculation. Please don't speculate about who any of the real-life people might be.”

He added: “That's not the point of our show.”

Baby Reindeer centers around a struggling comic who becomes obsessed with a bully after an act of kindness. Since its premiere on April 11, Internet sleuths have been trying to uncover the true identities of the characters, including Martha the Stalker (played by Jessica Gunning) and Darrien, the television writer who prepares the character of Gadd (played by Tom Goodman-Hill).
