“They found him 10 meters away from the sea, 10 to 15 meters from his destination, the beach of Agia Marina, between a fence and a path.”
State television ERT reported that he was found lying face up with his head on a rock.
“It's not clear if he had an accident or if he felt bad,” Papakalodoukas said.
The mayor said the body appeared to have fallen down a steep slope, coming to rest against a fence and lying face up with a few rocks on top of it. The body was carrying a leather bag in one hand, state television cameraman Antonis Mystiloglou said ERTwho was also on the boat.

The coast guard and firefighters were deployed to the scene, a Reuters witness said.
The body was taken to the neighboring Dodecanese island of Rhodes for further tests, after a police official said a coroner at the scene ruled out any foul play but could not determine the exact cause of death.
Mosley went missing after going for a walk in scorching temperatures along a rocky coastal path from Agios Nikolaos beach to the village of Pedi at around 1.30pm last Wednesday. Mosley did not have his cell phone with him, which hampered efforts to locate him.
Symi, part of the Dodecanese chain of islands, is about 16 kilometers long and has 2500 inhabitants.
Police, firefighters, coastguards and volunteers searched on and off the island in the eastern Aegean assisted by a helicopter, drones and rescue dogs.
Mosley has appeared in programs such as the BBC series Trust me, I'm a doctor, the bbc The only show, and ITV's This morning.
Saleyha Ahsan, a doctor who worked with Mosley at the BBC, offered her “heartfelt condolences” to Mosley's family.
“He lived and breathed his work,” he told Sky News. “It was an inspiration.”

Mosley's wife said in a statement: “It is devastating to have lost Michael, my wonderful, funny, kind and brilliant husband.”

The couple's four adult children arrived on the small island of Symi on Friday night to support their mother and help in the search.
Bailey Mosley also thanked “the extraordinary people of Symi who have worked tirelessly to help find him”.
“Some of these people on the island, who had never even heard of Michael, worked from dawn to dusk without being asked. We are also very grateful to the press who have treated us with great respect.
“I feel so blessed to have our kids and my amazing friends. Most of all, I feel so blessed to have had this life with Michael.”
A day earlier, Dr Bailey Mosley had spoken of the “excruciating” wait for news.
“It's been three days since Michael left the beach for a walk,” she said in a statement daily mail, where her husband is a columnist.
“The longest and most unbearable days for me and my children.”
CCTV footage emerged on Saturday which appeared to show Mosley leaving the Greek village of Pedi and heading into a treacherous, rocky and mountainous area.
As a result of the video, rescuers had shifted their attention on Saturday to the mountainous area between Pedi and the beach of Agia Marina.
The London telegraph he reported that the way was a longer route of three hours to where he was staying in the town of Symi. He said rescue workers had previously been looking for the most direct route between the two villages.
Papakalodoukas said in London Ground the area was mountainous, rocky and treacherous, offering no shade from the 40 degree temperatures.
