Goorjian is expected to notify players if they have made the squad for Paris in the hours after the game and there will be some solid clues as to who has, as he will treat the game as a full dress rehearsal after using only Giddey and Patty. Mills for a handful of minutes on Tuesday.

“We've got to start getting this group to play together,” Goorjian said of his starting lineup.

“And we have to whittle it down to a group of eight or nine (who will play most of the games).

“Landale, Giddey, Patty — we've got to get that group to play together, whereas tonight we had about 60 points from guys that we don't know if they're going to make the team.”

Goorjian faces huge selection dilemmas with veteran Joe Ingles trying for a fifth Olympics but appears to be on the edge of the list, while NBL shooter Jack McVeigh has picked up his Grand Final form from the NBL in camp and is pushing for a spot.

McVeigh starred Tuesday with 24 points in 13 minutes, but Goorjian admits he's looking for players who can complement NBA stars.

McVeigh could end up in a head-to-head selection battle with Joe Ingles, who is chasing his fifth Olympics.

Matthew Dellavedova (seven assists in 14 minutes) and Chris Goulding (14 points in 10 minutes) did well in the second half, while Will Magnay is pressing his case as the third center behind Landale and Duop Reath (21 points in 19 minutes).

Dellavedova was substituted late after injuring his knee; Goorjian did not have an update on his condition after the game.

“I feel like we're going to get the right group and the tenacity, the spirit, some of the things that were missing at the World Cup. [last year] there's this time and that's one look,” Goorjian said.

“This juggling with the ball is not about making hard cuts, but about how to win games.

“Every time you play, it gets a little cloudier when I want it to be clearer.”
