Callum Simpson hits back at Mark Jeffers and urges rival to ‘bring something to the table’ if he wants to fight

Callum Simpson has challenged rival Mark Jeffers, asserting that facing him currently would mean a regression in his career trajectory. This comes after Jeffers recently intensified their rivalry by suggesting a bout with Simpson would be “easy work” as he continues to seek a fight.

Simpson, who holds British and Commonwealth titles and boasts a high ranking, highlighted his career progression compared to Jeffers`. He recalled calling out Jeffers a year ago when Jeffers was ahead, but now feels Jeffers has not advanced sufficiently. Simpson stated that for a potential future fight to be compelling, Jeffers must achieve more and “bring something to the table.”

While Simpson is set to fight Ivan Zucco for the European super middleweight title this Saturday, Jeffers will also be competing on the undercard against Sean Hemphill at Oakwell Stadium in Barnsley.

Simpson remains undefeated with a 17-0 record, including a stoppage win in February. Jeffers also holds an unbeaten record of 20-0, having secured a victory in April.

Looking forward, Simpson is focused on significant future contests against potentially high-profile American fighters and world-ranked opponents. He expressed hope that Jeffers could become a worthwhile opponent down the line, provided his career trajectory aligns.

Simpson views the upcoming clash against Zucco (21-0) as another crucial test. The fight will take place at Oakwell Stadium, anticipating a large and supportive crowd, potentially double the size of the 7,000 who saw him defeat Zak Chelli there last August. Simpson conveyed confidence, noting his consistent performance under pressure. He believes he is the more complete fighter, possessing advantages in size, strength, conditioning, and boxing skill, and is confident of victory against Zucco, whom he expects to be at his absolute best.

The fight between Callum Simpson and Ivan Zucco is scheduled for this Saturday.
