Children’s author accused of grooming children online

A child perpetrator has been arrested in Sydney's west and charged with clearing after he used his position to inappropriately engage with children online.

Detectives investigating child sexual abuse and exploitation began investigating in May after receiving an interstate report about the alleged behavior.

“During the investigation, the man allegedly sent inappropriate photos and videos to what he believed to be a 13-year-old girl,” NSW Police said in a statement on Saturday.

A 41-year-old man was arrested during a raid on a house in Old Guildford at around 8am on Friday. He has been charged with using a carriage service to prepare a person under 16 for sex and using a carriage service to procure a child for sexual activities.

Police say he is a child abuser.

“Detectives will allege in court that the man used his position as a child perpetrator to inappropriately engage with children online,” police said.

Several electronic devices were also seized during the search.

The man was refused police bail and appeared at Fairfield Local Court on Friday.
