Less than a week ahead Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire Coming to digital platforms, the next installment in the franchise has just received an exciting update. In addition to receiving an amazing 4K UHD Collectors Edition box set, which will include all five films to date, Godzilla X Kong is on pace to end its theatrical run with an estimated $550 million worldwide on a budget of $135-150 million, an impressive profit margin. The film has been a mixed bag among critics and audiences, earning a “rotten” score of 54% from critics, but a much-improved score of 91% from the general public on aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes. It continues the series' trend of having a lower approval rating from critics, but it still saw a considerable drop from the last installment. What do we know about the upcoming “MonsterVerse” movie?

Other than Callaham signing on to write the script, little is known about the sequel Godzilla/Kong movie right now. The report claims that franchise distributor Warner Bros. is interested Godzilla X Kong director Adam Wingard to return to direct the sixth installment, but that no official agreement has been reached. Wingard currently has his sights set Sausage, an upcoming A24 action-horror thriller that his commitment to could force WB to find a new director. Wingard's only two management credits since 2018 are in both Godzilla vs. Kong i Godzilla x Kong, so his interest in taking on different projects in other genres is understandable. Fortunately for Warner Bros., audiences have proven to be interested in monster-smashing action, regardless of who sits in the director's chair.
