Deontay Wilder is open to discussions about future boxing matches, including a potential, long-awaited clash with Anthony Joshua, provided he is successful in his upcoming comeback fight on Friday.
The former WBC world heavyweight champion is set to return to the ring after an absence exceeding a year, facing Tyrrell Anthony Herndon at the Charles Koch Arena in Wichita.
Eddie Hearn, promoter for Anthony Joshua, recently mentioned Wilder as a possible opponent for Joshua in the coming months, suggesting fights could happen in October, November, or December. According to Hearn, facing Wilder would allow Joshua to potentially complete the set by challenging all the elite heavyweights of his generation.
Wilder`s co-manager, Shelly Finkel, stated that while the priority is the fight on Friday, they are prepared to discuss any future possibilities if that bout goes well.
The American boxer aims to regain the formidable and destructive form that saw him hold the WBC championship title for five years.
Despite extensive negotiations in the past, a fight between Joshua and Wilder has never materialised. However, Turki Al-Sheikh, the head of Saudi Arabia`s General Authority for Entertainment, indicated in January his interest in helping to organise this highly anticipated contest.
