Dillon Danis hits back at Tony Ferguson as UFC legend teases fight may be back on after GFL cancellation

Dillon Danis has responded briefly to Tony Ferguson after the UFC legend promised their fight would happen.

The pair was scheduled to headline the inaugural GFL weekend, set to take place in Los Angeles last weekend. Unfortunately, both planned events were canceled over a month beforehand, resulting in the fight being called off.

This added to a difficult couple of weeks for Danis, who was also set to face YouTuber KSI in a boxing match just weeks before the Ferguson bout. However, within days both fights were canceled, with KSI citing severe illness as the reason for withdrawing.

Dillon Danis and Tony Ferguson Exchange Taunts as Rescheduling Discussed

Following the cancellation of the GFL`s initial events, the planned fight between Dillon Danis and Tony Ferguson appeared to be off the table. Though the matchup seemed somewhat unexpected, it had generated significant fan interest and was set to headline the second night of a major event.

However, Ferguson recently took to social media to remind fans of the potential fight, stating that he still considers it active. “Ahhhh Yes, The Journey Is The Part You Remember Anyways,” Ferguson posted on Instagram.

“Ol’e Moose Knuckle Danis Still Gon’Get Demolished. I Know Kung Fooooooooooo. Ahhh Wah Wah Wahhh Waaaaaaaaaaahhhh Zaaaaaahhhh MF’as!!! Act Accordingly & Form Rank Bishes -Champ – CSO – #FightNewsSoon.”

Danis then used his private Instagram account, TheMadSamurai, to respond, telling fans to “Let him know I’m gonna ankle pick his ass.”

Dillon Danis Has Been Inactive for Nearly Two Years

For Danis, recent years have been marked by frustrating cancellations. He previously lost three years due to knee injuries after only two Bellator fights before making a return in a boxing grudge match against Logan Paul in 2023.

He then remained inactive for the entirety of 2024 before agreeing to two fights scheduled less than two months apart this year. Despite these setbacks, he reportedly maintains an intensive training schedule and shared recent photos from sessions on his Instagram story after messaging Ferguson.

Misfits Boxing promoter Mams Taylor has pledged to arrange another fight for Danis. Responding to a lengthy message from the fighter about his cancellations, Taylor wrote: “You’ve sure had some bad luck. You’re fighting soon Danis.”
