We finally have our first good look Emma Roberts' upcoming romantic comedy Space Cadet and it's all fun and fearless. Directed and written by Liz W. Garcia, the film was first announced in 2022 and all eyes have been on it ever since. The new trailer sees Roberts as Rex, a Florida partygoer who, by chance and a bit of a lie on his resume, is selected for NASA's astronaut program. Things change when the training actually begins, and he faces a myriad of challenges ranging from a fear of flying to not fitting in with the rest of the group.
Overall, the trailer sets a hilarious tone for the feature and audiences will get a bit of a Legally Blonde the atmosphere of the film, as Rex turns out to be a problem solver and a seeker of her dreams. The fun and fresh approach to aviation training and the flight itself is a good reason to watch the film. Since Roberts has always been a favorite of the romantic comedy genre with features like Valentine's Day, The art of passing everything, i Holidayshis performance looks convincing as always.
What is 'Space Cadet' about?
Space Cadet is billed as a comedy about “the power to be yourself, follow your dreams and shoot for the stars.” The film follows Rex (Roberts), who always dreamed of going to space, but life passes him by, and he ends up working as a waitress in Florida. Although she is determined to defy her fate and with the help of her best friend Nadine, her “doctorate” application lands her in NASA's ultra-competitive astronaut training program. Once selected, Rex relies on her quick wit and determination to make it to the top of her class. But you'll have to get to space before you blow the deck.
Garcia, whose credits include the Netflix hit purple heart i the sinner directs from his original script, and it will be fun to see how this feature turns out. The film has a set included Poppy Liu as Rex's best friend, Nadine, Gabrielle Union as NASA's program director, Pam, and Tom Hopper as program director Logan. Another addition to the cast are Kuhoo Verma, Desi Lydic, Sebastian Yatra, Yasha Jackson, Andrew Call, Troy Iwata, Josephine Huang, Dave Foley, Sam Robardsi Joshua Harto.
