FCC Takes Action Against Company After 11 News Investigation

The Federal Communications Commission announced Tuesday that it is asking carriers to stop processing bot sales calls for a company called MV Realty.

In November, 11 Investigates partnered with our sister stations at Cox Media Group to investigate consumer complaints about the Florida-based company. Our research showed that homeowners said they didn't know what they were getting into when they agreed to take a quick buck from a real estate company and then have the exclusive right to sell their home for 40 years. Some homeowners said they got pennies on the dollar in the deal.

We've also found out that MV Realty often files lawsuits against a homeowner when they refuse to honor the "contract," demanding thousands of dollars.

According to our information, the attorneys general of Pennsylvania, Florida, and Massachusetts have filed lawsuits against the company. Georgia and North Carolina confirmed they were investigating the deal.

On the federal front, in addition to the FCC's announcement on Tuesday, the chairman of the Senate Banking and Housing Committee called on the FTC and CFPB to investigate MV Realty.

11 Investigates repeatedly asked MV Realty for an on-camera interview, but the company refused.

However, she has told us in part in her written statements that she has more than 30,000 satisfied clients, that the terms of her contracts are clearly stated, and that the legality of her employment contracts will ultimately stand.
