Frick Collection’s New Digital Programs Precede Late 2024 Reopening

Arts & Celebrities

The Frick Collection offers a slate of robust digital programs and collaborations, allowing audiences to engage with the New York institution between the closing of its Frick Madison residency and the reopening of its updated East 70th home Street by the end of 2024.

These initiatives include a new video series that takes audiences behind the scenes of the Frick's ongoing renovation and improvement. “Renovation Stories” feature key project figures sharing insights into the progress of their historic buildings.

“Renovation Stories” are published approximately every two weeks, with 15 or more planned through the end of the year. Between two and five minutes long, the episodes feature presenters such as director Ian Wardropper; architect Annabelle Selldorf; curators Xavier F. Salomon, Aimee Ng, Giulio Dalvit and Marie-Laure Buku Pongo; and Chief Conservator Joseph Godla, supported by on-site footage, interviews, historical footage and drone footage.

“Drawing Together” is an interactive art-making program hosted online by Frick educators. Each 90-minute evening session begins with warm-up drawing activities, followed by a close look at an artwork for inspiration and open-ended suggestions for art-making. You need to register.

A monthly Instagram Live series, “Tabletop Atelier,” engages the online audience in quick art-making activities, encouraging participants to get creative and see Frick's works through a new lens. This in-person program welcomes art enthusiasts of all skill levels to use everyday materials in drawing exercises that explore the fundamentals of sketching, inspired by the old masters.

“Continue the Conversation” is an upcoming program in which fellow art enthusiasts discuss a single piece of art, led by Frick educators via Zoom. You need to register.

These various series follow the museum's popular YouTube series, “Cocktails with a Curator.”
