Production directed by Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy. When asked if the team had potential ideas for future installments, Miller explained:
“Mainly because to tell the story
Fury Road
which takes place over a very compressed period of time, it could be argued that the first act of
Fury Road
and the last act are being played out in near real time over three days to tell this story on the run. Picking up all the backstory, all the exposition along the way, everyone who worked on the film, not just the cars, but all the designers, all the accessory makers, everyone, had to understand the story of bottom very intimately so that it was consistent. .So we had to write the story of Furiosa and the 18-year-old, as it turns out, before meeting her in
Fury Road
.
We also had to write Max's year story the year before we met him
Fury Road
.
So we have this story. We wrote it as a novel, Nico Lathouris and I, and this is the story we have yet to tell.”
