“CBS Mornings” co-anchor Gayle King was surprised to learn that she is among the cover stars of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 60th Anniversary Special Edition. Fellow cover models Kate Upton and Hunter McGrady revealed the news to King after an interview on the show Tuesday morning, prompting applause from an excited King.

“Am I on the cover?” King exclaimed, as Upton handed him a copy of the magazine. “They told me I was just going to be inside.”

“This is real,” said “CBS Mornings” co-anchor Nate Burleson, who congratulated King on officially becoming a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover girl. He encouraged King to take it on the spot while King looked at the cover.

“It's going to say: sexy is not an age. Sexy is not a size. Look how beautiful you look. This is so inspiring for women of all ages,” McGrady said, pointing to the cover. “Yes girl you did.”

King said she was left speechless by the news and praised the photographer for guiding her every step of the way, from spreading her toes to placing her fingers.

“I never saw myself that way. I still don't see myself that way,” King said. “But when I look at this… I go, I look great.”

“CBS Mornings” co-anchor Tony Dokoupil shared another surprise: King also made the Sports Illustrated Legends edition.
