Google App Reportedly Testing New Incognito Mode Shortcut for Quicker Access on Latest Beta Version

Google is testing a new shortcut option for incognito mode in its search app, allowing users to quickly access the feature, according to a report. This feature was spotted in a beta version of the Google app for Android smartphones, along with another addition that makes the bottom banner labels disappear. This development comes just a week after it was reported that the search engine may stop offering scrolling search results on mobile and desktop platforms.

Google's new incognito mode shortcut

Android Authority spotted a new shortcut that shows the incognito tab in the Google app for Android, in version 15.26.34.29.arm64. The latest beta version is available for download to testers who have opted in to receive beta updates through the Google Play Developer Program.

If you tap the search box, a new one seems to pop up Chrome incognito option above the keyboard. This can allow users to quickly switch to incognito mode, instead of the current solution: tap the profile picture option in the top right corner of the screen, then select the incognito tab in under the account

The update also brings an improved look for the Google app home tab. Tags that appeared previously, such as at home, search i saved they are now hidden, while only the icons are visible, providing a simplified look to the interface.

While these options are reported to be available with the latest beta update of the Google app, Gadgets 360 staff members were unable to access them, suggesting that this is a server change .

Circle to search the Google app for an update

The Google app is also gaining support for Circle to Search, the visual search feature powered by artificial intelligence (AI). It was spotted in a beta version of the Google app and can allow users to scan any QR code or barcode visible on the screen.

Meanwhile, a chip displaying the URL of the target website may also be visible next to the code, according to the report. This option is said to be accessible by pressing the Home button. and will likely be rolled out to stable channel users at a later date.
