Google Pixel 9 Series Fingerprint Sensor (Expected)
According to a report by Android Authority, the Google Pixel 9 series smartphones are expected to be equipped with an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. According to the report, the exact sensor, Qualcomm's 3D Sonic Gen 2 (QFS4008), is the same one used in the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.
Ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensors are said to be faster and more accurate than optical sensors. They're also said to work better if users' fingers are wet or slightly dusty, and they don't need part of the screen to light up to work.
While the report didn't specify the exact models, it noted that in-display ultrasonic fingerprint scanners would be included on all models except the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. The rumored foldable smartphone is tipped to get a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, placed on the power button.
