Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was meant to kick off Marvel Studios' Multiverse saga with a bang, but instead it came out with a whimper. It wasn't just that Quantumania received lukewarm reviews, but far underperformed at the box office, and that's not even worth it Jonathan Majors' legal issues into account, since his villain Kang the Conqueror was supposed to be the face of the Multiverse Saga. I said I would like to do it seriously [death], with all these great special effects. There has to be some cool way where I can shrink myself to the size of an ant and explode, whatever it is. Taking the elder Pym off the board would not only prove emotionally devastating for his daughter Hope (Evangeline Lilly) and wife Janet (Michelle Pfeiffer), but it might have emphasized just how big of a threat Kang is. If someone was willing to sacrifice their life to stop him, and it didn't work, that would have been a real shock to the audience, since Pym was a big part of the three. Ant-Man movies

Pym's death could have been a catalyst for Scott and Cassie as superheroes

The death of Hank Pymit would have also come full circle on the character's journey, especially regarding his family history. The first Ant-Man revealed that Hank had retired from superheroes after Janet's apparent death on a mission to disable a nuclear warhead. This drove a wedge between him and Hope for years, leading Pym to teach Lang how to use the Ant-Man suit. Janet and Pym were finally reunited Ant-Man and the Wasp, which finally ended Pym's story. Him sacrificing his own life would have brought things back to where he was in the first movie, showing how much he truly loved his family.

Pym's death would have allowed Scott Lang to step in as Ant-Man. Scott and Pym had more in common than the Ant-Man suit; they both loved their daughters and would have done anything to reconnect with them, and eventually they did. Scott's daughter Cassie (Kathryn Newton) also followed in his father's footsteps Quantumania, becoming Stature. Although Pym's death would have been tragic, would have allowed the Lang family to follow in the footsteps of the Pym family. That said, the MCU is the most interconnected studio in the world, so just because Hank didn't find himself in the great quantum realm of the sky in Quantumaniathere is no shortage of other properties where he could find a poignant and heroic end.
