Idris Elba Teases an “Incredible Adventure” in ‘Heads of State’

More than three and a half years ago, the action comedy Heads of State was announced with Idris Elba i John Cena willing to join forces once again after their time together James Gunn's The Suicide Squad. Since then, however, word on the project has been scarce outside of how he's filled out the cast around the star-powered pair. As production on the film gets underway, Elba is now slightly pulling back the curtain on what he describes as an “incredible adventure.” In an interview for his upcoming series, Knuckleshe recently teased to Collider's Steve Weintraub what exactly the movie is about and what to expect when it finally hits theaters.

At the time it was revealed, Heads of State was described as a '90s-style actioner with an odd cop buddy couple dynamic between Elba and Cena's characters and an air of Hobbs and Shaw or Air Force One. The title also hinted at a political angle, and Elba confirms that it's incredibly literal. “Heads of State it is literally what it is,” he told Weintraub. “It is about two heads of state, two heads of their countries, who… how can I say? — Go on this incredible adventure.” There isn’t much to that description, but it does paint a picture of Elba and Cena as world leaders going around the world to save the day.

Join them in this adventure is Priyanka Chopra Jonaswho's no stranger to globe-trotting adventure thanks to Prime Video's massively interconnected spy series Citadel. Work in Heads of State it comes ahead of season 2 filming, which is expected to begin later this year. The protagonist is also recent Lisa Frankenstein actress and Mike Flanagan favorite Carla Gugino next to Jack Quaid, Steve Root, Paddy Considine, Sarah Niles, Richard Coyle, Clare Foster, Katrina Durdeni Aleksandr Kuznetsov. no one Helmer Ilya Naishuller is directing the function with Josh Appelbaum i André Nemec writing the screenplay from an initial draft of Consult Harrison.

“Heads of State” is part of a busy slate for Idris Elba

Heads of State it is just one of several projects that will be developed with Elba involved.
