‘Interview With the Vampire’ Season 2 Ending Explained

As the curtain falls on season 2 of Interview with the vampire, the AMC series can feel safe taking a bow. Showrunner Rollin Jonesthe adaptation of Anne RiceThe seminal novel of has earned its place as one of the greatest hits of modern television. The second season finale, “And that's the end. There's nothing more.” addresses both the immediate and long-term consequences of Armand's (Assad Zaman) betrayal and Claudia (Delainey Hayles) and Madeleine's (Roxane Duran) horrible deaths at the hands of the Théâtre des Vampires. The penultimate episode left its survivors in dangerous conditions: Louis de Pointe du Lac (Jacob Anderson) get revenge on that French guy? What about Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid) after his false testimony? Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian) banish the answers to the overarching questions they've been plotting over the entire series, let alone survive their increasingly dangerous interview? And what the hell has really happened to Armand? Episode 8 has a lot to sort out, but it satisfactorily ties up loose ends while dropping some tantalizing hints about Season 3.

Louis Gets Revenge In 'Interview With The Vampire' Season 2 Finale?

When we last left Louis, the guy had murdered Claudia and buried her alive in a locked coffin. In today's interview, Louis grimly explains how he spent months screaming, sobbing and starving himself, the latter of which left him too weak to escape. Armand, meanwhile, has been usurped by the substitute leader of the coven, Santiago (Ben Daniels), who seems to enjoy his newfound power. Armand's punishment is contempt and submission, a situation that must sting for his former followers. Being the inspiration that he is, Armand plays on Santiago's ego by pretending to be embarrassed. Once the fellow stops paying attention to his movements, Armand sneaks some of his blood into Louis's coffin, which gives Louis enough strength to escape.

Duly enraged and delirious with hunger, Louis seeks refuge in an abandoned crypt. He feeds on every unfortunate soul that passes by and frantically plots his revenge against the skellar, writing a list of Arya Stark's kills with their names on the stone floor of the crypt. Armand telepathically contacts Louis and urges him to flee Paris instead of trying to rescue Armand, to which Louis yells that saving his traitorous boyfriend from the clutches of the coven is the last thing has in mind However, Louis warns Armand to stay away from the theater if you want to survive.

Louis douses everything he can reach with gasoline and telepathically ignites it like a cert Fall Out Boy song Hell kills half the coven; Louis' knife skills and carefully placed traps take out the rest. Santiago tries to escape through the sewers before Louis telepathically interrupts him with some deeply personal and ridiculous taunts about Santiago's past. Suitably provoked, Santiago flies through a sewer grate… only for Louis to immediately decapitate him with a piece. The Théâtre des Vampires has fallen, the building turned into rubble along with them.

What happens to Lestat after the trial?

Their revenge complete, Louis and Armand have a tense reunion. Armand reveals that he has been lying to Louis since the night he turned Madeleine into a vampire; the coven ambushed him, having written and rehearsed his “trial for murder” months in advance. Armand promises to spend his long life regretting his cowardice. Louis coldly confirms what we already know: it's impossible for him to do that truly forgive Armand regarding Clàudia.

Before Louis can leave France behind, one loose end remains. Armand takes Louis to where Lestat is hiding inside his creator's old lair. Lestat has been quietly pondering who he is and what made him this way, but Louis and Armand aren't interested in talking. They summon fire into their palms, and Lestat snorts, unimpressed. “I have the blood of Akasha in me,” he murmurs, which he is Interview with the vampirethe first easter egg of season 3, and a massive one. Akasha was the mother of all vampires; inheriting his blood makes Lestat nearly invincible. Louis goes for the next best option. He passionately kisses Armand in front of his old love, condemning Lestat to an emotional death through eternal loneliness.

'Interview with the vampire season 2 finale reveals the truth about Armand

Having renewed their bond out of spite, Louis and Armand travel the world before settling in Dubai. As they recount those years to Daniel, they seem to extend an olive branch after episode 5 began their estrangement. Louis declares that his story is over; Daniel announces: “End of session.” But Daniel, a master of specificity, is not finished. He starts calling out the glaring inconsistencies in Louis' story, saving the kicker for last. If Lestat can telepathically control an entire room, couldn't he have saved Louis's life at the trial??

What at first seems like a cruel dagger to Louis' heart becomes Armand's downfall. Daniel hands Louis a copy of the coven trial script (courtesy of the Talamasca and, surprisingly, Sam the Vampire) complete with someone's marginal notes. Louis sinks into the pages, realizing, with Daniel's help, that Armand was part of the plot from the beginning. He directed the play with as much detail as any other production, then gave the performance of a lifetime. Moreover, it is Lestat who saved Louis' life by psychically moving the human audience. Armand did not lift a finger; he just took credit and altered Louis' memories to reflect the falsehood. Louis was to die next to Claudia and Madeleine.

A silent Louis leaves the table with a frightened Armand on his heels. As they argue in the other room, Daniel tries to gather his things and pretend to be Talamasca's undercover agent Rashid (Bally Gill), aka, run away from there. He is interrupted as half the ceiling collapses around him, Louis having thrown Armand with enough force to knock the room in half. For the second time in their lives, Louis orders Armand not to kill Daniel. Then Louis promises Daniel ten million dollars, shakes his hand and I sincerely thank himtears glistened in his eyes.

Louis and Lestat meet in the modern era

For the first time in at least 77 years, Louis returns to New Orleans. While on a local tour that references the season 1 party where Lestat and Louis slaughtered the guests (with the tour guide blaming it on a genius named “Lesander Lioncourt”), Louis discovers a vampire collecting rats. Street. Remembering his early days, he follows the stranger to a dilapidated old house only to find Lestat pretending to play the piano. He looks worn and tired and behaves in a reserved manner. When prompted, Lestat reveals that he's rehearsing for his upcoming musical tour (our second clue in Season 3), but has made New Orleans home. It's not “enduring,” a term he previously used to describe a vampire's basic existence; it's alive”.

Louis and Lestat then do something rare: talk honestly. Louis admits his past sins. He was selfish; treated Lestat's Dark Gift as a curse; he wanted Lestat to suffer because he was miserable. A shocked Lestat reveals that Armand made psychic contact with him in 1973: the same day Louis brought home a young Daniel and ran off into the sun. She cries over Louis' suffering, prompting both men to confess how Claudia is stalking them. Sitting cross-legged in the Zen garden, Claudia's yellow dress now hanging on one of the walls, Louis delivers a world message to each vampire. He challenges them to a fight, but not without issuing a clear warning: “I am the night.” AMC's season 3 announcement confirmed it Interview with the vampire will adapt the next book in the Anne Rice series, The vampire Lestat, where the titular character becomes a rock star. The last we saw of Lestat in the AMC universe, he was getting ready for a tour. Name-dropping Akasha shows off her starring role in Rice's third Chronicles of vampires novel, Queen of the damned. Louis doesn't contribute much to any of these titles, but Season 2, Episode 8 makes it clear that he's not going anywhere. And woe to anyone who tries to kill the night itself.
