After premiering at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and making waves at the Berlinale and Tribeca Film Festival, the independent filmmaker Nathan Silverthe last comedy Between the temples the audience is expected to take hold this August. The Jason Schwartzman i Carol Kane-Led has unveiled a new trailer that paints a funny and fun picture.


The trailer sees a grieving Ben, a cantor who is too messed up to even hold a service. Because he is distraught and abandoned by his life, he meets his old music teacher Carla, who wants to have a bat mitzvah. Things take a funny turn when Ben, with the help of his new student, begins to put his life in order. The trailer will definitely make you smile at this oddball couple, who come together, trust each other and find their faith in the process. Silver has managed to make a world where every character feels familiar, and the trailer and poster set a fun and bright tone for the feature.


The team behind “Between the Temples”


Between the temples follows Ben, a recently widowed New York synagogue cantor who finds himself in a crisis of faith after falling into depression and moving back in with his mothers following the death of his wife. Meanwhile, his rabbi is trying to set Ben up with his daughter. Ben, however, begins to put his life back together by tutoring his elementary school music teacher as he prepares for his bat mitzvah.

The film has received some glowing reviews and currently holds an 88 percent Tomatometer score on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. Silver directs from a script he co-wrote C. Mason Wells. Along with Schwartzman as Ben Gottlieb and Kane as Carla O'Connor, the film also cast Dolly de Leon like Judith Gottlieb, Caroline Aaron like Meira Gottlieb, Robert Smigel like Rabbi Bruce, Madeline Weinstein like Gabby, Matthew Shear like Nat O'Connor. Another addition to the cast are Lindsay Burdge, Jason Grisell, Cindy Silver, John Magary in different roles.


The film is produced by Tim Headington, Theresa Steele Pagei Nate Kamiya on behalf of Ley Line Entertainment along with Adam Kersh by Fusion Entertainment, i Taylor Hess. Executive producers include David Darby i Lauren Shelton by Ley Line Entertainment, Joshua Blumalong with Schwartzman and Kane.
