Mixed martial arts fighter Kevin Lee is reportedly evaluating his future in the sport after sustaining a tough knockout defeat and related injuries at PFL 6 last Friday.
In his debut fight for the PFL, Lee faced highly-regarded Gadzhi Rabadanov in the main event, a semifinal bout for the lightweight world tournament. Rabadanov, who was the heavy favorite, landed significant punches on Lee before securing a knockout victory by dropping the former UFC competitor.
Following the loss, Lee shared his thoughts on the outcome, specifically expressing doubts about his ability to withstand damage during fights.
“I’m not a coward. At least I can say that I tried. I shot for the stars,” Lee posted online. “My legs just aren’t what they used to be. I can’t absorb shots anymore and honestly I don’t know if it will come back.”
Lee further disclosed that the defeat resulted in a jaw injury, which necessitated having his jaw wired shut.
This incident marks another difficult turn for Lee, known as “Motown Phenom,” who was once considered a fighter with immense potential. He has now lost four out of his last six bouts, including stoppage losses to notable opponents. His recent wins have come outside of major promotions like the UFC and PFL.
Meanwhile, Gadzhi Rabadanov advances in the tournament to face Alfie Davis in the championship match, competing for a substantial prize.
