UFC Hall of Famer Khabib Nurmagomedov has expressed his readiness to assist soccer icon Patrice Evra in preparing for his mixed martial arts debut. The former Manchester United player is scheduled to compete in the PFL on May 23.
Following his announcement that he would venture into MMA, Evra contacted Nurmagomedov. Evra clarified that his move into fighting is not merely for attention but a serious undertaking, stating that he is fully dedicating himself to preparing for his first bout.
During their conversation, Evra told Nurmagomedov, “I need to train… I need to take it seriously. You know how much respect I have for you, for the sport, so that’s why I really need to have a training session with you. Because I want to know from the best.”
Nurmagomedov, a long-time soccer enthusiast, offered his assistance, noting its convenience now that both men are based in Dubai as Evra prepares for his debut.
Nurmagomedov responded with his signature phrase, “I told you many times, send me location and I’m going to find you… Send location, tell me where are you? When I see you, you have to be ready and that’s it. Other things, I’m going to take care of. I’m going to teach you how to smash people.”
This offer comes as no surprise, as Nurmagomedov is widely recognized as a premier MMA coach, having trained multiple champions such as UFC lightweight king Islam Makhachev and PFL lightweight champion Usman Nurmagomedov.
Since retiring from competition, Nurmagomedov has committed significantly to coaching, earning a reputation for intense training regimens and a focus on maximizing fighter potential. It seems he is prepared to train Evra whenever their schedules align.
Nurmagomedov added, “I just want you to improve yourself. Nothing else. [It’s] very good to see you and finally I hope you’re going to send me location and then we will train together.”
Evra`s PFL debut is scheduled for May 23 at the Accor Arena in Paris, France.
