Ah, the 80s. The decade that will seemingly never die. Why is it so indestructible? Mainly for the metric ton of the memorable pop culture that he released to the world for ten years. As a way to further celebrate this decade of media excess, we've learned (via Boing Boing) that the LEGO folks are doing another challenge If we could go back in time, (uh, shout out to Cher!) asking fans to vote on specific potential '80s-inspired builds that can become future LEGO Ideas sets.

Among the 80s inspired LEGO sets introduced this year are for ET, gremlinsBeetle juice, greatand our personal favorite, golden girls. Others have submitted the latter for a LEGO Ideas set once or twice before. Maybe this time Dorothy, Rose, Blache and Sophia will finally make it to production? In recent years, various LEGO fans have suggested sets based on pop culture properties and have actually made them. A fan suggested a Seinfeld set, i they produced it a few years ago. Fans have come up with all kinds of ideas over the years, from The Muppet Show a The Flintstones a Dungeons & Dragons. Although we're really rooting for golden girls (it's their time), it wouldn't be a shock if Beetle juice won the contest. If only because it has a sequel hitting theaters this year. To vote, be sure to head over to Official LEGO Ideas blogand let your voice be heard.
