Warner Bros. re-shuffles the release dates of some of its titles, including M. Night Shyamalan's trap, one of the most anticipated horror titles of the summer. The studio had previously moved the release date up a week from August 2 to August 9, but is now pushing it back to the original August 2 date, according to Deadline. The last change will be the chest trap against another genre title, cuckoo starring Hunter Schafer. Also competing for viewers' attention on the crowded weekend of August 2 are titles such as Harold and the Purple Pencili Sebastian among others. It presents an opportunity for Shyamalan to dominate the headlines and defend his title as king of twists after his last two titles had underwhelming box office performances.


trap is a psychological thriller set in a concert that, unknown to its attendees, has been designed as a ruse to catch a serial killer on the loose. The film will see a father (Josh Hartnett) attend the aforementioned concert with his teenage daughter (Ariel Donoghue) who he has taken to see his favorite pop star. However, a night that was supposed to provide a father-daughter bonding experience turns dark and twisted as the audience learns that the father is the serial killer whose latest victim currently trapped in the basement. while trap will once again showcase Shyamalan's knack for creating twists, the filmmaker teases that the film is “very unusual and very new compared to what I've been trying to do. [recently].” She revealed in a recent interview that the film was inspired by her relationship dynamic with her three daughters sharing; “when I don't go well, or I don't do something right, I feel bad. The catch is all these scares and things like that on screen.”


The public got a first taste of what's in store trap when a teaser was released at this year's ComicCon, followed by an extended official trailer released a week later. The trailer introduced the premise of the film as the evil protagonist known as The Butcher is seen working hard to outwit law enforcement. The trailer has generated reactions from fans, with some theorizing that trap could be a red hint to something bigger and more sinister that Shyamalan might be hiding up his sleeves.


'Trap' will mark Ishana Night Shyamalan's acting debut

Shayamalans are growing her legacy as a daughter Ishana Night Shyamalan enters his first screen role with trap. Having collaborated with his father on previous films, scoring soundtracks for old and the television series servant, Ishana's role will see her mimic real life. Starring Lady Raven, the pop star of the concert, Ishana will be performing original songs she wrote for the film.


Ishana is slowly building her portfolio as she recently made her directorial debut with the supernatural horror flick. The Watchers produced by his father and starring Dakota Fanning, Georgina Campbelli Olwen Fouere. while The Watchers generally received negative reviews, the Shayamalans will be waiting trap it fares much better when it opens in theaters on August 2nd.
