The Instigators
premieres on Apple TV+ on August 9, showcasing the talents of Damon, Affleck and an all-star cast.
After making a big hit House Road remake with Jake Gyllenhaal, earlier this year, director Doug Liman has brought another action comedy, the instigatorstarring Matt Damon i Casey Affleck. The Apple TV movie has released its first trailer, and it's everything you could ask for, from a car chase to a therapy session. The Boston feature has a stacked cast and a hilarious plot along with some tender moments.
The new trailer sees Damon as Rory, a father trying to mend his relationship with his son and become a better man with the help of his therapist. He teams up with ex-convict Cobby (Affleck) to steal money from corrupt politicians. However, the robbery goes awry and the two go on the run with Rory's therapist as a hostage. The trailer gives us a great look at this world and sets a hilarious and exciting tone for the film.
What is 'The Instigators' about?
The feature follows Rory and Cobby, a pair of bickering thieves, who attempt to rob corrupt city politicians, but when their attempt fails, the two are forced to go on the run from the city's police, bureaucrats and crime. Chaos ensues when they take Rory's therapist hostage for their escape. The heist flick has Liman's trademark humor, lots of car chases, action and a couple of tender father-son moments that define the two central characters.
The feature marks another collaboration between Affleck and Damon, where the duo was most recently seen Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer. The film also reunites with Damon The Bourne Legacy Director Liman. He has a set that includes Damon's Downsizing co-star Hong Chau as therapist Dra. Donna Rivera, Alfred Molina like Richie Dechico, Paul Walter Hauser like Booch, Michael Stuhlbarg like Mr. Besegai and Ron Perlman. He also rounds out the cast Come Rhames like Frank Toomey, Toby Jones like Alan Flynn, Jack Harlow like Scalvo, Caylee Cowan, i Richie Moriarty among others.
Liman directs the action comedy from a script co-written by Affleck and Chuck Maclean. Damon produces the feature with Ben Affleck under their Artist Equity banner. They also serve as producers Jeff Robinov, John Graham, i Kevin J. Walsh. With a wealth of talent on and off screen, The Instigators it's a movie to watch out for.
