Horror fans are less than two weeks away from the release of MaXXXine. The third chapter a You WestThe slasher trilogy opened in Hollywood earlier this week to rave reviews. As we quickly approach the release of the A24 movie, fans of Mia GothMaxine Minx by Maxine Minx has received new images, posters and trailers. Now, the latest teaser shows the dark side of fame on full display.
While the 30-second spot is mostly footage we've seen before, there are some key new wrinkles like editing making it feel like the real-world “Night Stalker” killer has made Maxine his next target while the police are also in on his story. Maxine has been his beloved confidant for most of the marketing, but this teaser is one of the first real instances where it looks like our favorite new final girl is in danger. This is aided by shots of a group of women, one of whom appears to be Maxine, tied up while a shadowy figure wearing a fedora watches them. There's also an attempt to kill our titular hero with a plastic bag that pays homage to the slasher classic black christmas. Stay in line with X i By before, MaXXXine it will be full of horror references.
The dark side of Hollywood and fame
MaXXXine resets the last goth girl in Hollywood in 1985, six years after the terrible events of X. However, even though she was the sole survivor, Maxine doesn't let her trauma get in the way of her American dream. He just got his first big break with the lead role in the indie horror sequel The Puritan II. However, when people start dying around Maxine, her stardom is put in jeopardy as her past comes back to haunt her. The Night Stalker killer is also terrorizing Los Angeles, which may or may not be related to Maxine's current blood issue. Horror fans have entered a new era of Hollywood. MaXXXine's unleashing the VHS era on the genre as the final act of this trilogy. Also, the film seems to dive even deeper into the nuances of the satanic panic that goes into it X alongside how comparisons were made between pornography and horror during this horrific time. Alongside Goth, this slasher stars Halsey (who we see Maxine interacting with in this teaser), Kevin Bacon, Elizabeth Debicki, Lily Collins, Sophie Thatcher, Giancarlo Esposito, Bobby Cannavale i Michelle Monaghan.
