MCC seeks applicants for vacant board position

McLennan Community College is encouraging qualified residents to apply for a board position left vacant by the resignation of longtime District 7 Trustee Geneva Watley in December.

Residents of District 7 have until 5 p.m. Jan. 18 to apply for the seat, which represents west McLennan County, including McGregor, Crawford, Eddy and parts of Hewitt.

The board of trustees in February will appoint a member to serve until May 2025. The board will interview candidates Feb. 12 and consider appointing the new member Feb. 27.

Applicants must be a qualified voter, hold residency in the state at least 12 months and reside in District 7 at least six months before the appointment is made.
