The company has launched MediaTek Dimensity 8250 SoC. The new processor was built using TSMC's 4nm manufacturing technology. It features a fully integrated 5G modem, support for artificial intelligence (AI) processing, and enhanced image processing capabilities. According to the specifications, it includes four Cortex-A78 cores and four Cortex-A55 cores. It is also equipped with the Mali-G610 MC6 graphics processing unit (GPU). Notably, the Dimensity 8250 launched less than a week after the tech giant unveiled its flagship-quality MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ chipset.
According to an announcement made by the company on its website, the new Dimensity 8250 SoC is an octa-core chip with one Arm Cortex-A78 core at 3.1 GHz and three other Arm Cortex-A78 cores with clock speeds of at 3.0 GHz. In addition, it also features four Arm Cortex-A55 cores with a maximum clock speed of 2.0 GHz. It also has an Arm Mali-G610 MC6 GPU. The Dimensity 8250 chipset supports up to four 6400Mbps LPDDR5 channels of RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.
The chipset also has improved camera capabilities. According to the company, the MediaTek Dimensity 8250 can support primary camera sensors of up to 320 megapixels. It can also drive a triple rear camera setup. It also uses AI to reduce noise in images and can provide up to 2X lossless zoom. For video recording, it can support recordings with a resolution of up to 4K and 60 fps. It also offers 1080p resolution and 60fps video recording with anti-shake Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS).
In terms of AI capabilities, the new mobile processor can perform dedicated AI tasks and fusion processing. Without revealing the scores, the company claimed that the new mobile processor showed “excellent” ETHZ benchmark performance. In addition, it is also said to meet the power requirements of smartphone brands in short bursts, thermal limitations and power-sensitive scenarios.
Other than that, the MediaTek Dimensity 8250 SoC comes with support for a WQHD+ display up to 120Hz or full-HD+ up to 180Hz. It also supports HDR10+ video processing. In terms of connectivity, you get a fully integrated 5G modem with support for sub-6GHz SA, NSA and 3CC networks. It also features tri-band Wi-Fi 6E with a maximum downlink speed of 4.7 Gbps and connectivity up to Bluetooth 5.3.
