Mike Perry described his fight with Jake Paul as `weird` and issued a warning to Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. regarding Paul`s power ahead of their upcoming fight.
The BKFC ‘King of Violence’ stepped in on short notice to face Paul when his original fight with Mike Tyson was postponed. Perry proved to be a tough opponent, pushing Paul for five rounds in what Paul himself called a significant risk.
Paul is now scheduled to fight former world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in California on June 28th, a bout widely seen as Paul`s most challenging yet.
Mike Perry Details Jake Paul`s `Weird Power` Before Chavez Jr. Fight
Although Jake Paul knocked down Mike Perry three times before securing the TKO, the former UFC fighter believes the issue wasn`t raw power but rather Paul`s unique style. Perry suggests that a more technical boxer like Chavez Jr., with better balance, might be able to avoid being dropped.
“It was different, it was weird,” Perry stated in an exclusive interview. “I train with boxing gloves on for sparring, but the way he put his weight into certain shots, it wasn`t like the punches were hurting my head severely.”

“But he managed to catch me when I was off balance, and I don’t believe Chavez will be off balance in the same way I was… Chavez is a more traditional boxer. I perform better when I can use more of an MMA striking style and make the fight `dirty`.”
“That’s how I defeated a boxer with a 27-3 record by making it dirty, which was permitted under those rules. In pure boxing, his power isn`t terrible, he certainly had power. He could knock me down and use his weight and size, but Chavez is closer to his size.”
“They are quite similar physically, and I believe Jake possesses good skill; he has a strong team, and those factors are significant.”
Mike Perry Analyzes Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.`s Prospects Against Jake Paul
Chavez Jr.`s most recent fight was on the undercard of the Paul vs. Perry bout last year. He earned a controversial decision victory against Uriah Hall, but it`s thought he is approaching the fight with Paul with much greater seriousness.
“Chavez does have some size. They are fighting at 200 lbs again. Jake will be cutting weight to make 200 lbs but will likely rehydrate well, as we saw him at 227 lbs against Mike Tyson. He has power, size, and skill.”
“However, Chavez possesses extensive boxing experience with nearly 60 professional bouts. His record boasts over 50 wins, and being the son of an all-time great puts significant pressure on him.”
“I`m curious to see how that affects him, especially with Jake engaging in trash talk. I`m unsure how the fight will unfold because Chavez has vast experience, and having spoken to him when Jake and I fought, he has slightly more size than I do, coupled with his boxing expertise.”
“It’s a challenging fight for Jake, but ultimately, anything is possible.”
