MOANA 2’s First Trailer Begins a New Adventure on the Sea

In her big screen debut, Moana showed how far she would go to help an ancient goddess. Now he will show how far he will go to unite all his people. Walt Disney Animation's first trailer Moana 2 brings back the young heroine of Auli'i Cravalho for a new adventure at sea, which will unite her even more with her ancient ancestors. And one more time she will have help navigating both the waves and her enemies. Dwyane Johnson's muscle demigod, Maui, is back for another ride.

Disney's teaser trailer Moana 2 looks… uh… very similar to the first one Moana. I haven't seen the original in a couple of years, and if it weren't for the fact that Moana looks older here, I wouldn't know if the first 80% of this promo is simply rehashed footage from that movie. But like Maui, I know he hasn't brought a pig with him to the raft before, so we're definitely in for a new story this time. What exactly is going on though? Here is the official synopsis for the Disney film:

Moana 2 reunites Moana and Maui three years later for an expansive new journey alongside a crew of unlikely seafarers. After receiving an unexpected call from her ancestors, Moana must travel to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous and long-lost waters for an adventure unlike any she has ever faced.

Moana 2 also has some newcomers behind the scenes. The film comes from directors David Derrick Jr., Jason Hand and Dana Ledoux Miller. Meanwhile, Mark Mancina and Opetaia Foa'i from the original film are returning as composers and composers, but Lin-Manuel Miranda is not. Instead, Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear will contribute songs to the film.

Moana 2 will hit theaters this fall on November 27, 2024, just in time for Thanksgiving. The live action Moana will follow him to the big screens in 2026. It's a long way to go for our favorite seafarer, but we know he's ready.
