Former Bellator bantamweight champions Sergio Pettis and Raufeon Stots will put their friendship aside when they collide in a highly anticipated showcase bout at the PFL event on June 27.
The event is scheduled to take place at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago. This featured fight will kick off the main card, leading into the semifinal matchups for the light heavyweight and middleweight tournaments.
Pettis (23-7) is looking to rebound after suffering consecutive losses, first to Patchy Mix and then to Kyoji Horiguchi in a recent RIZIN appearance. Before this challenging stretch, Pettis had a dominant run, winning three straight title fights. He initially captured the bantamweight belt from Juan Archuleta, then secured a memorable knockout against Kyoji Horiguchi, and successfully defended against Patricio Pitbull, preventing `Pitbull` from claiming a third divisional title.
Stots (21-2), another former interim Bellator titleholder who also lost to Patchy Mix, has since bounced back impressively with two consecutive victories. His recent wins include decisions over Marcos Breno and his long-standing rival, Danny Sabatello.
The PFL event on June 27 is headlined by the middleweight semifinal bout between Fabian Edwards and Josh Silveira. The co-main event features a light heavyweight semifinal clash between Phil Davis and Sullivan Cauley.
