Professional Fighters League (PFL) has announced the cancellation of its planned event in Paris, which was originally scheduled for May 23rd. This marks another instance of the promotion altering its fight schedule in the French capital. The decision was disclosed on Thursday, however, PFL did not provide an explicit reason for the postponement.
In their official statement, PFL referred to the event as being “rescheduled” and confirmed that all tickets purchased would be refunded. Despite mentioning rescheduling, the promotion did not announce a new date for the Paris card. This situation mirrors a previous decision by the promotion to “reschedule” a Bellator Paris show planned for last year.
The now-cancelled Paris event was notably expected to feature the highly anticipated mixed martial arts debut of former French national football team captain and Manchester United star, Patrice Evra. At the time of the cancellation, an opponent for Evra had not yet been publicly named.
The card was also set to be headlined by a lightweight bout between Mansour Barnaoui and Archie Colgan. It remains unclear whether the matchups scheduled for the May 23rd date, including planned PFL Europe bantamweight contests, will be moved to future PFL events. The promotion has yet to make an announcement regarding the reallocation of these bouts.
