Trainer Peter Fury believes that a rematch between Savannah Marshall and her long-standing rival, Claressa Shields, could still happen.
Marshall holds an amateur victory over Shields, and the two prominent fighters later faced each other in a significant world title fight in 2022.
Shields emerged victorious in that contest and has since moved up in weight, achieving undisputed champion status in a heavier division.
Marshall herself became an undisputed champion at super-middleweight in 2023 and has also ventured into mixed martial arts, competing with the PFL promotion.
The British boxer is scheduled to return to boxing next, following the signing of a deal with Jake Paul`s promotional company, MVP.
Her trainer, Peter Fury, commented on a podcast: “I think it`s great news for Savannah.”
Fury added, “She`s in the gym, she`s training hard every day and she`s got a big announcement next week.”
With a new American promoter, Marshall is entering a fresh stage of her boxing career. Fury expressed belief that a rematch with Shields remains achievable.
Fury stated his optimism: “I`m optimistic because I don`t think there`s anybody else. I think them two are at the top.”
He added, “Savannah`s made some serious adjustments since the first fight so I`m really looking forward to if they can get it on again.”
Marshall is not the only British boxer recently signed by MVP. Chantelle Cameron, a former undisputed super-lightweight champion and current WBC Interim titleholder, has also joined the company, which is promoting Katie Taylor`s upcoming bout.
Holly Holm Returns to Boxing

UFC star Holly Holm, known for her knockout win over Ronda Rousey, is set to return to boxing at age 43.
She is scheduled to fight Yolanda Vega on June 28, appearing on the undercard of the Jake Paul vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. fight.
Holm commented on her return: “This new chapter is going to be an exciting journey, and I`m looking forward to the challenge. Coming full circle back to boxing – I`ve spent most of my MMA career at 135lbs, and now I have the opportunity to make my boxing debut at that weight. With boxing titles in three higher weight classes under my belt, I`m eager to pursue a fourth title in a new division.”
