Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick ‘Highly Confident’ of GTA 6 Releasing in Fall 2025: Report

Grand Theft Auto 6 will be released sometime in 2025. Take-Two Interactive, in its fiscal 2024 earnings report last week, narrowed the game's release window to the fall of calendar 2025. Now , Take-Two's CEO has said he is “very confident” in GTA 6's expected release time.

Speaking to CNBC, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick discussed the publisher's release schedule, focusing specifically on Rockstar Games' GTA 6. The long-awaited game was first revealed with a trailer in December 2023 and is scheduled to arrive in the fall of next year. . Zelnick said Rockstar parent Take-Two was “very confident at this point.”

“Well, there's a slippage in the industry and we're not immune to it. However, we've reduced the timing because we're very confident at this point,” Zelnick told CNBC.

Take-Two's CEO also talked about GTA 6's planned release window and how the publisher and Rockstar Games arrived at it. “There are things you can actually measure, like the number of bugs in a title, and each of us will make sure we have as few bugs as possible before we launch,” he said.

“However, in the case of an extraordinary title, for which there are extraordinary expectations, it's not really about mistakes, it's about creating an experience that no one has seen before, and Rockstar Games strives for perfection in what does. And perfection is really hard to measure, it's really more subjective than objective,” added Zelnick.

Last week, during its quarterly earnings call, Take-Two confirmed that GTA 6 would launch in the fall of calendar 2025. In April, Take-Two announced that it would lay off about 5 percent of the its workforce, or around 600 employees. The publisher said it would also cancel several projects in development as part of a cost-cutting plan.
