Qimir (Manny Jacinto) learns the seductive power of the dark side in The Acolyte
the acolyte has offered a good reason for a Jedi to reconsider their vows, with episode 6 showing Qimir (Manny Jacinto) seducing Osha (Amandla Stenberg) to the dark side.
What happens in 'The Acolyte' episode 6?
Osha wakes up on a mysterious planet with Qimir, who has kidnapped her to be his new apprentice. Osha expects a fight, but Qimir understands that persuasion is more powerful than force.
Qimir swims naked in front of Osha and allows her to grab his lightsaber, knowing full well that she's too much of a scout to take him down unarmed.
Meanwhile, Mae (impersonating Osha) tries to get more information out of Master Sun (Lee Jung-jae), searching for answers behind the mysterious fire that supposedly killed her witch clan.
When Sol realizes his true identity, he ties Mae up and promises to tell her the truth just as the credits roll. Notably, the Jedi Master is far more aggressive towards his captive than his Sith counterpart, an interesting subversion.
At this point, Osha has had multiple opportunities to kill Qimir or escape, but she's clearly enjoying his company, even fully clothed. After he goads her into igniting her lightsaber, she tells him that she left the Jedi because she wasn't good enough, and Qimir reveals that he too was a Jedi.
He shows Osha his jagged helmet and lightsaber test and explains that it works as a sensory deprivation tool, allowing the wearer to focus entirely on the Force.
Osha tries on the helmet, implying that she has been seduced by the dark side.
Finally, A Sith Seductress
A running joke War of the galaxies it's that the dark side is deeply unappealing: traditionally, young Jedi are manipulated by disfigured and decrepit old men, the kind of guys you wouldn't sit with on the subway.
The fact that almost every defender of the dark side has been horribly maimed should be something of a red flag, but the Sith are always finding new recruits.
Of course, the idea that lost souls are attracted to toxic ideologies that are very flattering to their egos reflects reality (a fitting theme for the reactionary wing of War of the galaxies fandom), however the acolyte he depicts his Dark Side “influencer” as charismatic and seductive.
Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) in the sequel trilogy tried a similar approach, but Qimir is cooler and more composed than Kylo could ever be: Kylo was essentially a Swiftie, but for Darth Vader.
When it comes to sexual tension, the War of the galaxies The universe is as barren as Tatooine, so the show that turned up the heat was met with great enthusiasm and plenty of memes.
The dark side should be an escape from the repressive rules of the Jedi Order, where you can wear black and wield lightsabers that glow a sultry shade of red.
Anakin turned to the dark side after the Jedi told him to repress his love and attraction for Padme, while Luke's sexual urges turned to his sister; rather alarmingly, we never see him express interest in anyone else.
That's a point War of the galaxies story where the Sith are believed to be extinct, so the art of radicalization is of the utmost importance; if the dark side can offer anything, it's the freedom to surrender.
After all, the Jedi aren't the most exciting bunch (oddly enough, the show got more entertaining immediately after most of them were slaughtered), and Osha's beige existence could certainly do with a touch of spice; it's not hard to see why he donned the helmet.
Not to mention, the whip scar on Qimir's back strongly implies that he was betrayed by Vernestra Rwoh, another hint that the Jedi aren't all they're cracked up to be.
