“We wanted to create a place for Dungeons & Dragons the fans feel seen and special”, he explains Dungeons & Dragons: The Twenty-Sided Tavern creator David Carpenter after a particularly rousing rendition of the performance that concluded the night. Unfortunately, Carpenter notes, the theater is not a place that has traditionally been associated with fans of the nerd variety. But for Carpenter and company, that doesn't make sense. And they are right. Given such a communal and theatrical experience as Dungeons & Dragons, theater feels like the perfect next step to take the fantastic world. And here is where Dungeons & Dragons: The Twenty-Sided Tavern come in

We at nerdy were delighted to attend an evening of Dungeons & Dragons theater to experience this great meeting of minds for ourselves. Immediately, the excitement among the diverse audience was evident. High school kids in wizard robes lined up outside the theater, elf-eared adults were rolling mega-dice in the themed lobby, and more mundanely dressed people were among them.

Of course that The tavern of twenty faces he's filling exactly the void he sensed from afar. Dungeons & Dragons fans are hungry to bring their experience from the table to a room full of like-minded people ready to engage in a game they know and love.

Of course, how Dungeons & Dragonsthere are no two nights of The tavern of twenty faces unfold the same. In fact, every performance literally depends on the roll of the dice… And the inclinations of the audience, thanks to a genius system called Gamiotics which allows the audience to make decisions about the story, participate in challenges and make their voices heard through phone browsers. These interactive components really focus you on the action and connect you with your peers. And what is the number of ways in one night The tavern of twenty faces can you go “Limitless,” reveal Carpenter and co-creator Sarah Davis Reynolds. To put more than one number on it, “About 300,000.” This means you will need to buy a lot of theater tickets if you want to be a finalist. But that still doesn't take into account the individual decisions that an audience makes together.

There are two types of audience, the people of Tavern of twenty faces reveal. Those who are more mechanical and those who just want to have a good time. He was certainly part of a fun crowd, but that didn't stop him Dungeons & Dragons mechanics to easily integrate into the entire game, I mean play. Fortunately, for novices and experts alike, The tavern of twenty faces guide the audience through all the details they may need to know D&D while keeping everything complex enough as a condiment Dungeons & Dragons players will not feel slighted.

And that's not even to mention the magic of audience participation, which has you battling a big bad that's also known as a “disturbingly extravagant chinchilla” and sees audience members thrown onto the stage, or the curtain of absolutely magnificent background of the work. Using an amazing video wall and highlighting the work of many great artists, the setting believably transforms into literally hundreds of different settings, aided by additional special effects that the DM can add on the fly. I really can't stress enough how beautiful the display is and what a real party Dungeons & Dragons-inspired art it offers. But if you can get to the theater to lay your eyes on it, I couldn't recommend it more.

It would also be remiss not to mention it Dungeons & Dragons: The Twenty-Sided Tavern it's funny and roaring. The actors/comedians are really at the top of their game, combining smartly Dungeons & Dragons references with modern brushstrokes to the world around us. Notable jokes include “Abercrombie and Leitch”, “Elven Klien” and “Algar, not Al Gore, that's someone else!”

Finally, of course, there is the clear heart of the game. Dungeons & Dragons it's about the friends you make and the characters you'll love along the way. At our attendance night, one of our party, Ethel the Grandma, was a huge hit. And of course there was a Lothario Bard who was cursed to speak in only five words because of the wayward roll of a dice. A magnificent kind of camaraderie grew between actors, audience, DM (played expertly by DAGL) and the game. It was the experience of playing Dungeons & Dragons, but it was magnified and celebrated under the spotlight. Truly a wonder to behold.
