In an alternate timeline, there could have been more patients referred to County General Hospital. Noah Wyle, who played Dr. John Carter on the iconic NBC medical drama series ER, recently revealed that there were talks about reviving the series with some of its original creators, but instead they decided to go in a different direction, having him star in another medical series, Max's upcoming show. The Pitt.
Wyle shared the news on an episode of the Still Here Hollywood podcast, revealing that he had spoken with ER executive producer and showrunner John Wells about a revival in 2020. An ER The reboot was “kind of a journey we had started on,” Wyle said. “I was getting all this mail from lifeguards and I had this desire to direct the compliments to John Wells, so I sent him an email.” The pair then began slowly discussing a possible “character piece” that would depict the life of the ER staff:
“I went ahead and said, 'I know you don't want to restart the show. Me neither. I thought it was very smart not to franchise…but if you've ever wanted to do something really badly. smaller and much more content — more of a character piece that catches up with an old character and just finds out how they feel about what's going on in health care right now, and you use them as a jeremiad opportunity to say what you want, I would vote for it. that would be on board for that.
The couple decided to work at 'The Pitt'
Wyle added that he and Wells even had a couple of big ones ER writers to talk about the project, but it never came out. Instead, Wyle and Wells decided to focus on it The Pitt, which will take place in a hospital in Pittsburgh and is described as a realistic examination of the challenges facing healthcare workers in today's America, seen through the lens of frontline heroes working in a modern hospital. Wyle will star and produce the series with Wells also executive producing. Warner Bros. has given the series a 15-episode order.
