The characters make intense, hateful eye contact throughout the scene, before Sonny returns to his car. The groundwork has been laid and graphic and disturbing violence is just around the corner. A man of his word, Richard aligns himself with some of the most terrifying characters in crime films, and begins his killing spree shortly after his conversation with Sonny, which will lead to tragic consequences for all the characters.

What is the legacy of “Dead Man's Shoes”?

The legacy of Dead man's shoes cannot be underestimated. It became an instant cult classic in the UK when it was released there in 2004. It had to wait two years for its release in the United States and not all successful productions in Britain are equally successful in the US.
