‘Tom and I have agreed’… Jon Jones Excites Fans With Cryptic Response to UFC Unification Question

Jon Jones has suggested that an agreement for a fight against Tom Aspinall has been reached.

The reigning UFC heavyweight champion hasn`t competed since his knockout victory over Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 last November.

Since that fight, discussions have been ongoing regarding a title unification bout between Jones and interim champion, Tom Aspinall.

Frustrated by what some perceive as hesitation from the American fighter to accept the bout, over 150,000 fans signed a petition demanding he be stripped of his title. However, Jones` recent comments suggest this action might not be needed.

Jon Jones Addresses Question About Fighting Tom Aspinall

Just recently, Jon Jones made a brief statement hinting he might not compete in 2025. However, shortly after, the fighter often considered the greatest in MMA history reignited fan optimism.

Known as `Bones`, Jones recently participated in a Q&A session following a large seminar he hosted in Phuket.

During the Q&A, a fan asked the anticipated question: “When are you fighting Tom?”

Jones did not provide a specific date, but his reply indicated that an agreement might be in place.

He acknowledged the question about the Aspinall fight, saying, “I was waiting for it.”

He explained, “The UFC, myself, and Tom, we are all involved in a lot of behind-the-scenes activity.”

He added, “They are one of the largest sports organizations. Currently, Tom and I have mutually agreed to await the official announcements from the UFC.”

Concluding cryptically, he stated, “Therefore, legally, I cannot discuss it further.”

Fan Reaction to Jones` Hint

UFC fans responded to the viral video of Jones teasing potential fight news in the comments section.

Reactions varied, with one fan exclaiming, “Holy s— I told all of you,” while another optimistically suggested, “It better be November MSG at the latest.”

An excited user on X (formerly Twitter) posted, “NO WAY IT’S FINALLY HAPPENING.”

Another comment simply read, “The GOAT has spoken.”

Not everyone was convinced, with one skeptical individual writing, “This is BS.”

A humorous comment from a fan quipped, “First time @JonnyBones has cared about the legality of f—ing anything.”
