Weight Terms for Eubank Jr vs Benn Rematch Confirmed

Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn anticipates that Chris Eubank Jr will face the same weight requirements for his upcoming rematch against Conor Benn.

The British boxing rivals are scheduled to meet again in London on September 20. Their initial bout saw Eubank Jr secure a narrow points victory over Benn.

In their previous fight, Eubank Jr was fined for failing to make the middleweight weight limit, although he successfully met the 170lb rehydration limit the following morning.

We have a contract with the same conditions as the first fight, so we fully expect that to be honored. We`ll see.

– Eddie Hearn

Hearn, who promotes Benn, added, “It`s not really our concern. I suppose it`s up to the other team, but they did sign a contract. Everyone was aware of the terms, and we`ll see.”

However, Ben Shalom, Eubank Jr`s promoter, has suggested the second fight should take place at a weight higher than the 160lb middleweight division.

At this point in his career, the rehydration clause is likely less hazardous than the 160lb limit.

Shalom continued, “That`s probably the main issue. As the event organizers, everyone needs to be sensible about how we approach the second fight. All the discussion about the weight was likely the only negative aspect of the first event. I`m sure everyone will act reasonably.”

Eubank Jr handed Benn his first professional defeat by earning a tough unanimous decision win.

But Hearn is confident that Benn, who was inactive for over a year before their last fight, can gain redemption.

It`s going to be a massive occasion.

– Eddie Hearn

“From my perspective,” he continued, “you`re essentially going to see Round 13 right from the start. These two boxers won`t approach it any other way. They will stand toe-to-toe and deliver action, grit, and intensity every single time.”

“Their first fight was genuinely one of the best boxing matches we`ve ever witnessed. The atmosphere, the storyline, the connection to their fathers – everything about it was perfect. Some people question if a rematch is necessary? Yes, because I personally want to watch it again.”

“We just saw an incredible fight. Let`s do it again. I believe the second fight will be even better. I think, with Conor Benn being more active now, we have a chance to win this time, and that`s our goal.”

“We don`t just want a repeat; we want the victory. Conor Benn is furious about losing. He lost his undefeated record and wants it back, and that`s what he`ll be aiming for on September 20.”
