WhatsApp Now Lets Users Create Events in Group Chats on iPhone with Latest Update

WhatsApp for iOS introduces a new feature that allows users to create events in group chats. The feature was first spotted in a beta version of the app for the Android platform by a feature tracker. However, it is now being rolled out to the stable version of the iPhone instant messaging app. Its arrival builds on several previously reported features in development, including a new shortcut for quick replies to video notes and a new in-app bookmark for the Calls tab.

Before the update, users could create events on WhatsApp but only in communities, which allowed members to participate and conduct activities such as online meetings.

Now, the same functionality is coming for group chats as well. Tapping the “+” icon opens the activity menu that now appears event. Users can choose an event name, add a description, set a start time, and enter a location if needed. The feature is available to all WhatsApp for iOS users. Gadgets 360 staff members were able to access this feature after updating the WhatsApp app to the latest version. New features are usually rolled out gradually, which means it may take a couple of days to reach all devices.

WhatsApp recently launched Meta AI, the artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, in other regions, including India. Now it's being reported that the instant messaging platform could let users choose between two AI models: Llama 3-70B and Llama 3-405B. While the former is a smaller model intended to provide fast answers, the latter is Meta's largest model in its LLM family, with 400 billion parameters.

However, the Llama 3-405B AI model has not yet been released to the public. The feature was spotted in WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.14.7 via a new Model Meta Llama menu in the application settings.
