Normani had to work from home for the 2024 BET Awards.
The fifth harmony The alum shared that she was unable to perform at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles for the awards show after injuring her knee in a “really bad accident.”
“I'm more frustrated and disappointed than anyone believes,” Normani wrote in a June 30 Instagram story. “I wanted to be here and give you an update to let you know that while I was at rehearsals for BET I had a very serious accident and was injured.” (See all the stars who were able to attend the 2024 BET Awards here.)
And while the 28-year-old would normally “get it under any circumstances”, she said her medical team wouldn't allow it.
“I desperately wanted to give in to you in that scenario,” he continued, “but acting would delay my healing.”
Normani, who also shared a photo of herself on crutches and with her knees bandaged, wanted her fans to know they won't be alone in their disappointment at her absence, pointing out that she's done her best to “make sense” of one's own emotions regarding the accident.
